What
makes me a good financial planner?
- My Commitment to you –
I enjoy people and have a
passion to help you become a good steward of your assets and at ease
with all aspects of planning. I will use my skills, integrity, and
drive to offer you the best personalized service available.
- Education – I am a Certified Financial Planner™.
Unlike many other acronyms used in this business, the CFP® is the
most highly regarded and difficult to achieve. I also continuously
improve and update my skills through additional coursework each
year. Prior to becoming a financial planner, I obtained a BS degree
in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and
worked for over 20 years in various technical industries.
- No Hidden Agendas - I really love the fee-only approach and you
will too! We don't "push" any funds, annuities, or
anything that is not the best fit for you. Our costs are up-front
and open.

My Experience With a
Financial Planner.
I sought out a financial
planner for the first time after getting married in the mid 90’s. My
husband’s family and my family handle money quite a bit differently, and I
felt it was important for the two of us to get on the same page and work
together toward our goals. We signed up with one of the big financial
institutions, and it was a good experience that really helped us get on track.
Along the way though, I identified a couple of shortcomings of these big-company
services:
1.
Generally, internal funds or
front-end loaded mutual funds were recommended over other funds because the
commissions and fees were better for the company, not necessarily better for me
the investor.
2. The portfolio allocation
that they designed for us was more risky than necessary for our circumstances.
And worse the portfolio didn’t compensate us for this extra risk.
This is when I connected
with Rich Chambers and discovered the fee-only business model. Rich and I have
been working together since 2002 and constantly improving our business and the
services we offer. It has been a great collaborative effort with the addition of
Jennifer Cray.
I
think all of us need a coordinated perspective of our financial situation.
I enjoy working with all of the financial pieces:
beginning with your goals we coordinate your stock options, real estate,
insurance needs, tax efficiency, 401k and other retirement assets, financial
independence planning, cash flow and college planning if needed.
