Socially Responsible Investment Solutions

Investor's Capital Management, LLC and Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) offer mutual funds designed for investors who are concerned about socially responsible investing. These funds are constructed to meet the social investing needs of shareholders while seeking a market-wide exposure to US and Emerging Markets stocks with increased exposure to small cap and value stocks. An independent third party provider (currently KLD Research & Analytics, Inc.) uses screens to identify stocks that should be excluded from the portfolio based on social issues.

Those social screens may include:

Gambling
Tobacco or alcohol
Pharmaceutical manufacturers, including abortive agents and contraceptives
Abortion
Pornographic materials
For-profit health care providers
Military weapons or weapons of mass destruction
Sudan
Child labor infractions in the US or abroad

These funds are highly diversified – the US fund contains over 1,500 securities and the Emerging Markets fund contains over 1,400 securities. The mutual fund fees are excellent at about 0.60%.
